How to play: One of the players assumes the role of dr. Jekyll, the other that of Mr. Hyde. The game is played in three rounds, at the end of each, the identity of dr. Jekyll is reeling under Mr. Hyde's relentless attacks. At the end of each round, the players compare how many tricks they won in that round and subtract the higher number from the lower one. (Example: Dr. Jekyll wins 5 tricks and Mr. Hyde 3, we follow the procedure 5-3=2) The difference in the number of tricks indicates how many steps the Identity Hider (Dr. Jekyll) will move to Mr. Hyde's side. Even if dr. If Jekyll wins more tricks than Mr. Hyde, the marker will definitely move towards Mr. Hyde's side. As Dr. Jekyll, your goal is to maintain balance without giving in to the dark side. Playing as Hyde, your prerogative is to create as large a mathematical difference as possible in tricks won in each round. Like Jekyll, filling this gap is your only strategy to avoid the psychological trap.
The game consists of three suits, numbered from two to nine. There is no priority as to which color is stronger. That is, until the first card is played at the start of the round. This suit is now considered the "weakest". The card lead should be followed as you would expect, with the highest numbered card winning. The second color played becomes the second strongest and by a process of elimination the third color is the strongest. These are reset at the start of each round, and can also be changed using potions.
Potions bring chaos to the game. A neutral color that can lead or follow, trigger certain effects based on what color the opponent is playing. (Example: potion number 4+ and purple 7, the winner of this trick would steal the trick previously won from the other player.) The green card would force the players to exchange two cards with each other. A red card resets the current color ranking, which can change strategy mid-round. An additional note, potion cards have a plus symbol, so between a 4+ potion and a green 4, the potion with the higher number wins.
If the marker reaches the last space on the track (far left), then Mr. Hyde instantly wins the game. Otherwise, start a new round: remove three colored tokens from the board and reshuffle all cards, including the 5 cards you put aside at the start of this round.. If the marker has not reached the end of the track after three laps, Dr. Jekylls dark side takes over.
