Playing time: 15 minutes

Content1 pirate figure, 3 sailor figures, 3 treasure chests, 1 game mat, 7 coconut palms/hideouts, 1 large pirate die, 1 small sailor die, 9 coconut palm cards, 4 parrot cards.

Preparing for the game: irecruits a player to play the role of pirate: if several players want to become pirates, each of them rolls a pirate die: the person who scores the most points becomes a pirate. The other players are left with a sailor figurine. Plant 7 coconut palms/hideouts in the spaces provided for them, located near the darkest squares on the game mat. Place the pirate and the treasure chests on the cave field.

Cards to be distributed among the sailors:

  • 3 sailors: each receives 3 coconut palm cards and 1 parrot card,
  • 2 sailors: each receives 4 coconut palm cards and 2 parrot cards,
  • 1 sailor: receives 5 coconut palm cards and 3 parrot cards.

Game flow:

The game starts with the player to the left of the pirate, and continues clockwise with the other players rolling a small die and moving the pieces forward the number of squares determined by the die.

Then it's the pirate player's turn: he rolls a big black die and moves the pirate's piece forward by the corresponding number of squares. If he rolls a large cross, the pirate stays in the same place.

Once the first round is completed, the next one starts, and so on.

 Moving the pieces:

  • The sails can move forwards or backwards, but only in the same direction on a single throw. A sailor can take one chest with him by simply going to the "pit" area. It can only take one chest with it at a time.
  • A pirate can only move forwards, but never backwards. (For reference: the pirate's hat must be pointing in the direction of the pirate's movement at all times).

If the pirate manages to land on a field where there is already a sailor, he eats the sailor and the game is over for the sailor.

But a sailor can also escape, by:

  • by using the parrot card:

This card doubles the number of points scored by rolling the dice. The player must hand the card to the pirate before the roll. Example: if the die shows 3 after the roll, the player can move his piece forward 6 spaces.

  • by hiding behind a coconut palm tree:
    • If the sailor lands in front of or on the coconut palm field (the darkest fields in the game template) after the roll, but is not yet behind it, he can call "cloak" and thus position himself behind the coconut palm,
    • If the sailor's piece is already on the coconut palm field before the dice are rolled, the player can cancel the "curtain". This hides the sailor behind the palm tree, but skips the next roll.

In the event that the sailor's piece is already in the pile and it is the player's turn to roll again, the sailor may:

  • remains hidden in the hideout: in this case, he must use one of the coconut palm cards and hand it over to the pirate. This time the dice roll is forfeited,
  • leaves the shelter and rolls the dice. In this case, the player moves the sailor forward, taking into account the coconut palm square (if he rolls 1 point, he places the piece on the coconut palm square),
  • gives up his chest: when it's the sailor's turn to throw, he can move the piece forward, but must leave the chest in its old place. This forces the pirate to stop on that field and put the chest back in the cave - on the field with the cave.

 Who is the winner?

  • the player who manages to get on the ship with one chest wins. Note: Sailors must roll the correct number of points to board the ship,
  • if the pirate manages to half all the sailors, he wins the game.
